GINI OGLE

The arts have been the focus of Gini’s evolutionary career including:

  • Current emphasis on oil painting, plein air and studio work
  • Calligraphic studies including professional fine art and graphic art business
  • Professor of art at FVCC
  • Proprietor of Echo Designs Gallery aand Frame Shop including plein air and studio work, oil, watercolor and calligraphy

Gini is a dedicated student of the arts and continue to expand her work in new directions. Passionate about plein air painting, she states, ” painting from life has its challenges but offers the best opportunity to represent the intricacies of light, mood and atmosphere of a subject and enables me to put my voice to that experience. As well as our wonderful local color, the awesome vistas of Glacier National Park greatly inspire and energize me and exemplify the feelings I bring to my work”.

Gini’s oil paintings speak to the beauty she has witnessed as a fourth generation Montanan. A notable aspect of her work is that it reflects a response that is purely intuitive. One gets the feeling that she utilizes all her senses, opening her heart to the subject and allowing that to influence each painting. In so doing, Gini makes the intuitive parts of her experience visible allowing the viewer to bring their own response to the work.

During the course of her calligraphic career, Gini enjoyed several opportunities to redefine the venues for hand lettering. During the course of her calligraphic career, Gini helped design a Lweis and Clark Bicentennial project. Designing and carving custom “Phrase doors” was the result of another collaborative effort between Gini and a door artisan.

Recognition of Gini’s artwork include acceptance into a national juried class at MIT taught by renowned artist, Herman Zapt of germany, and winning entries in th National Postal Museum Envelope Contest. In addition, Gini was one of the twelve national artists selected to study in England with three acclaimed calligraphy authors and instructors. Publishing credits include entries in “Speedball” intruction book, “Letter Arts Review” magazine, and the “Alphabetica” collection.

Gini was chosen by the Flathead National Forest, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and Hockaday Museum of Art as one of the three artists to experience the Artist Wilderness Connection. She spent ten days dedicated to her art in a wilderness cabin during the summer of 2017. This year she will present a public program showcasing her work and experience from the AWC at the Hockaday.

When not out painting she can be found in her studio at 530 Fourth Street East in Kalispell.
